Practical experimentation in teaching & learning.

Education That Keeps Evolving

Pirl Experimental is built on the belief that education should never stop evolving. Good teaching, meaningful learning, and strong educational experiences come from curiosity, thoughtful experimentation, reflection, and a willingness to revise what we do when we discover a better way.

My mission is to create, support, and strengthen learning experiences for students, educators, families, and communities. Whether the work happens in a classroom, around a kitchen table, outdoors in the field, or among professionals, the goal remains the same: help people learn, grow, explore, and build something better.

After fifteen years in the classroom, experience can make teaching easier—but it can also make familiar routines harder to question. Fifteen Years In, Starting Over Again is a reflection on what happens when an experienced teacher deliberately decides to rethink his practice rather than simply repeat what has worked before. It explores the tension between experience and experimentation, the discomfort of abandoning familiar systems, and the value of approaching a new school year with some of the curiosity of a beginner. Ultimately, it is about treating professional growth not as a rejection of what came before, but as a willingness to keep learning, testing, rebuilding, and getting better.

What’s New

New ways to investigate the body—and the teaching decisions behind them.

Skin-healing model showing new cells forming beneath a scab, with a close-up of cell division.

Interactive Simulation

How Does a Cut Heal?

Follow a cut from bleeding and clot formation to new cells filling the gap. Pause the model, change oxygen, nutrients, hydration, or infection conditions, and investigate how the repair changes. Compare trials and record observations to support an explanation.

Classroom Animation

Capillary & Tissues Exchange

Trace blood through a capillary bed as oxygen and nutrients move toward tissue cells and carbon dioxide and other wastes return to the bloodstream. Follow the same red blood cells, pause the flow, and adjust the speed to examine the exchange.

What’s New Interactive Science

Three ways to explore how the human body works.

These classroom-ready simulations let students investigate medical images, test how injuries affect movement, and follow matter and energy through cellular respiration.

Education & Consulting

Better teaching. Stronger learning. More engaged students.

Pirl Experimental supports students, families, teachers, schools, and education organizations. Science education is my deepest content specialty, but the larger work crosses subject areas: helping people strengthen student engagement, build critical and creative thinking, adapt curriculum thoughtfully, and turn good ideas into learning experiences that work in real classrooms.

Curriculum Review & Creative Adaptation

Review and adapt lessons or units while preserving what works and improving pacing, access, and engagement.

For K–8 educators, science teachers, schools, and curriculum teams

Professional Learning

Practical workshops and collaboration focused on engagement, critical thinking, curriculum adaptation, classroom systems, AI, and teacher decision-making.

For teachers across subjects, schools, districts, and educator groups

Educational Resource Development

Custom guides, student tools, simulations, and supporting materials designed around a real learning goal—not a generic template.

For teachers, schools, and education organizations

Individual & Small-Group Teacher Coaching

Personalized support with engagement, critical thinking, lesson design, differentiation, classroom systems, and curriculum adaptation.

For individual teachers and small educator teams across grade levels

Student Tutoring & Parent Coaching

Support for students through grade 8 and parents building understanding, stronger habits, confidence, and independence.

For students through grade 8 and their families
